How much?

Chapin Noel at Glacier
GNP. One last photo before leaving Glacier, from Apgar at the foot of Lake McDonald, a tradition.

It’s the hardest thing in the world to accept a little success and leave it that way.

We have two heads

Another one bites the dust, a Queen song, reminds us that 2019 is easily replaced with 2020…and so it goes. The future waits for no one.
  • We have two heads:
  1. Present self — immediate results.
  2. Future self — distant results.

Each morning i endeavor to savor the world and save the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.

Balanced excellence

Business phrases
This is yesterday’s note. Added two others inspired from the first.

Balanced excellence is a phrase originating from a If Disney Ran Your Life podcast episode recording with Jody Maberry.

In the moment yesterday, inhale excellence emerged in an instant.

Having meals in a college dining hall is inspiring and last night’s dinner was no exception.

Stir-fry vegetables and tofu, and a gala apple for dessert.

Perfect.

Lunch like you mean it

avocado lunch
Lunch. Yesterday. At the desk. Missing are the pistachios, almonds, and walnuts (appetizer), and the desserts: raspberries and an apple.

Lunch like you mean it.

It was so tempting (for the second consecutive day) to eat the Take 5 candy bars on the kitchen countertop candy dish.

But i didn’t.

PS. The excuses i had rationalized were good – but i knew i’d regret caving to weakness.

Living without

jeff noel cultural keynote speaker
Is your health worth defending? Find a millions ways to stay motivated.

Living (and running) without custom foot orthotics for about 90 days now. In the big picture, this is hardly enough time to make a transition from 12 years of wearing them everyday.

However, it is a transition and so far so good.

i just need to remember that without orthotic support, strength will need to be developed and range of motion challenged and a new normal will emerge.

All of this takes time.

The itch to compete is strong; which means pushing yourself harder than normal.

Watched the US Indoor Track & Field Championships all weekend and then World Indoors is in 10 days, and the 2016 Rio Olympics is this Summer. So yeah, don’t overdo it jeff.
