Great Results Come From Where?

Hard work.

Period.

End of story.

It’s time for me to shut up, show up, lace up and head out the door for a run.

Everyday, we have a physical responsibility to care for our body through adequate exercise and proper nutrition. It doesn’t get any simpler than this.

Quit making excuses about when you’re going to get started (again).

What are you going to do today to exercise your precious physical gift?

Did You Realize?

We go through life, addressing one health issue after another.

Along the way, we have choices. As simple as quit, or keep going. As complex as a multi-faceted approach to pain.

Yesterday’s easy run reminded me how much pain I’ve been through the past 2-3 years with the chronic inflammation that accompanies plantar fasciitis.

It feels like “phantom pain”, the pain that an amputee may feel, even though the limb is no longer there.

You and I have a million reasons why we don’t exercise.

I’m going somewhere with this. See you tomorrow?

Race Day 2009 At Lane 8 (respise)

Surreal
Surreal

This post has been copied from the Lane 8 archives and reposted here today:

Race day at Lane 8 – August 4, 2009.

Men’s 400 meters, 50-54 age group.  Call time 2PM.  Heat time 3PM.

By the time my preliminary heat is over (8AM EST), most of you back in the United States will just be waking up.

I visualize myself running and feeling God’s pleasure.  Running effortlessly, not to compete, but running simply because I can.

I don’t know why I run sometimes, all I know is that I enjoy it, and cannot help myself.

There is a popular misconception that winning is everything.

May I antagonistically challenge that?

Winning isn’t everything, doing your best is everything.

Don’t sell yourself short.  Be as great as you can be.  Even if you finish last.  Even if you are not a runner.

Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

Good News, Bad News

Night Resting Foot Splints (every night)
Night Resting Foot Splints (every night)

Today, the USA Masters Track and Field Championships begin in Sacramento, California with one of the biggest fields ever. Over 1400 athletes have signed up to compete in the four day competition. As reported on the USATF website twelve Olympians and 113 reigning world champions are in the field. The athletes range from 30 to 96 years in age. There is both individual and team competition as well individual and relay events.

Unfortunately, while I scheduled vacation time back in January, to compete this week, it’s not in the cards this year.

Patience is a virtue.

And so is staying motivated.

National & World Championships are just one way.
