Mourn or rejoice is up to you

The first sunny day, yesterday, was day seven. But by 4:00 PM, we knew the odds of seeing the big orange ball dip into the Gulf of Mexico were close to zero. Photo: 2:00 PM.
Walking to the beach at 5:30 PM and gazing over the sea grape bushes.

We did not mourn because the rose bush has thorns, we rejoiced because the thorn bush has roses.

We didn’t mourn because the clouds blocked the sun, we rejoiced because we are all together at one of our favorite places.

We also rejoiced because it wasn’t raining and because our three layers kept us warm enough.

You embrace the seven sisters

Eat well, even when it’s challenging.

You embrace the seven sisters reference and you deserve all the goodness that comes from over-focusing on the same things you used to under-focus on or ignore.

Congratulations.

Be amazed and be amazing.

And enjoy your physical vibrancy today.

Why are you calling the seven physical pillars the seven sisters? Just for fun, and, to consciously use a non-male dominant phrase.

These redirect errors are not life threatening

Small town water tower
Couple months ago in Eatonville, from the Macedonia Missionary Church parking lot. Parked here to attend a Disney Institute colleague’s funeral.

These redirect errors are not life threatening.

It’s easy to panic in a situation where the experts haven’t a clue how to fix the issues that literally cripple your ability to do your work.

Where do you see yourself?

Best Disney Institute Speakers
As a Disney Institute participant, i was asked to walk through Disney’s Hollywood Studios with my tablemates and photograph Magic.

i’m one of the slowest people in the world.

i’m one of the fastest people in the world.

Which one is true?

They’re both true.

How?

In the middle (think bell curve) of an age-based runner demographic of 55 to 59-year-olds, i’m one of the fastest.

But if we followed a traditional bell curve to the far right, and compared my speed to the outliers – the strongest and most fit 55 to 59 year-olds – i’m one of the slowest.

#Self-Reflection

Be careful where you set your bar. It may be too low.

A low bar has a direct and proportion affect on our motivation to achieve great things.

Our motivation influences our result.

You’re welcome.

The goal is always lofty

Apple watch running app
Yesterday was Monday. Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s are run days. Redundant. Glorious redundancy.

The goal is always lofty.

It’s human nature, with exceptions of course, to be competitive.

Survival of the fittest is as real as it gets in nature.

In our modern and civilized 2016-world, we still have strong DNA links to fight or flight.

While i do love the sense of accomplishment resulting from high achievement, i also enjoy the simple fact that being able to run at a slow pace with shorter distances is much more important than any world-class competition.
