From three days a week to six

From three days a week to six.

Seven weeks ago i replaced running with bicycling to give my legs an indefinite break after 17 years.

Been riding a bike the same days (M-W-F) i used to run. i ride to the gym, workout there, and ride home. About 25 miles round trip, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Add to that Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday track workouts with a ninth-grader, which began 10 days ago.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

At 6:05pm last evening, hungry and exhausted from teaching all day, I mustered the energy and fortitude to walk out the airport Hilton and begin a run with limited highway access. If I would have skipped last night, it would have been three days without a run, making a fourth day (today) without a run more likely.

I couldn’t allow that to happen.
