Run one mailbox a day family-style

Disney keynote speaker jeff noel
Rode bike to Disney’s Contemporary Resort a couple times this week.

Run one mailbox a day family-style.

The three of us began six days ago on Monday, August 6, 2018.

The date is not significant, nor memorable.

Not like April Fools Day 2009, when i began writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts.

Not like Halloween 2014, when i retired from Disney after 31 years of service.

In two days, on Monday, we’ll run two mailboxes a day for the week.

By the way, our jogging pace is slower than walking.

Today begins run-one-mailbox-a-day-for a week

Swimming pool float
Took this photo yesterday to text Cheryl a question about our pool floats.

Today begins “run-one-mailbox-a-day-for a week”.

Why?

The rest-break from running has been 19 months – 18 months longer than intended, and it’s time to see if the rest worked.

Years of chronic foot pain prompted a last ditch effort to try a remedy (prolonged rest) i had never attempted.

Just came back from a super slow jog from our mailbox to our neighbor’s mailbox – roughly 100 meters.

PS. Today is opening day for the 2018 Masters Track and Field National Championships in Spokane, Washington.

Coincidence?

No.

One mailbox a day update after six weeks

Map My Run screen shot
After six weeks, this is our current daily run distance.

We began on Halloween 2015, six weeks ago. Run one mailbox a day for a week. Each week, add another mailbox (100 meters).

We are only at five mailboxes because in week two, we kept the distance at one mailbox (100 meters).

It’s interesting to watch how two, three, and four mailboxes no longer seem like a big deal. Each time we add a mailbox, we are running farther than he’s ever run in his life. Each new distance becomes a big deal – literally groundbreaking.

And then it becomes no big deal in a week or two.

Slow and steady isn’t a theory.

We just finished week six of becoming a runner. Our daily mailbox total is five, so far. Next week we will run six mailboxes each day.
