Think small when it comes to your health

Epcot Food and Wine Festival 20th
Eating, drinking, working, family, socializing, tv, chores – a long list of distractions.

She did the Couch to 5k and it worked for her. She had never been a runner.

As our conversation progressed (we had just met five minutes prior) she shared what a struggle it is to juggle her schedule.

The bottomline, she is no longer running.

So in essence, the Couch to 5k failed.

Think about it.

She had a short term goal – a big goal relative to her past history – to do something she never did before.

Her long term goal should have could have been to never again be inactive.

Never. Again.

That happens one small day at a time.

Couple life reminders from yesterday’s track meet

Central Florida Gliders Track Meet 2015
The youngest competitors were eight years old.

The oldest competitors were 56 years old - the two facing the camera.

Couple life reminders from yesterday’s track meet:

  • Health is wealth.
  • Impossible is nothing.
  • Lofty goals are fun and motivating.
  • Healthy feet make running much more enjoyable.
  • The only limits we have are those we impose upon ourselves.
  • Central Florida heat and sunshine is brutal between 10am and 5pm.

Never competed in more than one event before. Warmed up three times for three different events in the hellish May 30th heat and sun.

Blogging is similar to running is similar to life

Blogging is similar to running, and running is similar to life.

Some runs are long. Some short. Some focused on aerobic strength. Some on anaerobic conditioning.

Some posts are longer. Some shorter. Some directly to the point. Some have no definitive answer.

Balancing it all is key. Especially in life.

Be well.

If we say health is important then we damn well better prove it

Orlando Executive Consultant jeff noel

(photo: Top floor, corner office… can exercise still be a priority?)

Sometimes triumph doesn’t mean proving anything to anyone.

Needed to overcome a serious health wake-up call at age 40.

Exercise was prescribed to raise the HDL cholesterol reading which had dropped into the danger zone.

And coupled with the fact that the LDL was above normal too.

Part of the creative process to stay motivated was learning to apply world-class business principals to the daily chore of exercising.

Astonishingly, after a decade of staying with it, a world-class level of fitness was achieved and the opportunity to represent the United States at the Masters World Championships (aka Senior Olympics), in the 50-54 age group.

Crazy. Seriously unbelievable.

So few people on the work team know.

And that is the triumph – the anonymity.

Check your motives.

Be true to yourself.

Authentic.

If we say health is important then we damn well better prove it.
