Lane 8 and Track & Field?

Lane 8 and Track & Field?  Absolutely.

Then what about quitting?

Yesterday, I posted that I wanted to quit.

Believe that?

Heck no.  i don’t want to quit.   Then what?

I felt like quitting!

Big difference.

I’ll be back out on the road before 7AM this morning.

The journey of 10,000 miles begins with the first step, and most likely, never ends.

So I constantly remind myself, “Just keep going.  You need to be a role model for the people close to you.  Your wife, and especially your son, need to see that it is possible to do the impossible“.

I wanted to quit!

Yesterday, I wanted to quit.  Seriously.

I kept thinking, “This isn’t worth it.  It’s too much work.  The pain isn’t going away.  What if I spend $1,000 for a plane ticket, plus hotel, etc, and I can’t run?  Maybe this is too much to expect, too soon – even though it’s been a decade in the making.  Maybe I’m being selfish.  Maybe I’m being blind to something obvious.”

I don’t know.

My foot was sore when I woke up in my Niagara Falls hotel room.  It was also sore the day before.  It was sore when I presented the Disney Service Keynote speech.  It was sore on the plane home.

I didn’t run yesterday, and I wasn’t going to run today.

But I did.  And I took it easy.  Ran 40 minutes with only slight pain.   This all gets so confusing sometimes.

Anyway, I have to get going.

No matter your situation, I wish you wisdom and guidance for good decisions and also a bit of forgiveness if you make any errors.

Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Greatest Track Coach of All Time?

Who’s the best Track & Field coach of all time?

Who’s the best cross-country coach of all time?

It may very well be the same person.

I do not claim to be an expert in these things, however, after reading about this coach, it sure presents a great case that this is the person.

The statistics are staggering.

I had never even heard of this person.  A quiet and humble dynasty.  Wow!

Makes you realize that one person can really make a difference in the lives of many.  Capre diem,  jeff noel  🙂

Ever get a perfect health score?

Ever get a perfect health score?

Friday’s strength test and core test proved one thing in particular.

A decade worth of hard work, persistence, determination, goal setting, set backs, failures, successes, sweat, pain, motivation,  lack of confidence, confusion, stress, progress, injuries, rehab, physical therapy, core workouts, speed work, and endurance work.

Plus, stretching, flexibility training, 5k’s, 10k’s, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1,500 meters, obsession, surrender, thinking, smiling, hoping, visioning, praying, playing, involving family, sacrificing family, nutrition, reading, studying, working full time, volunteering, dreaming, sleeping, lying awake, and probably many more – but I better stop now.

The result?

A perfect score!  My physical therapist determined my core was a perfect score of 21 out of 21.  She used a test used on professional athletes to look for imbalances and weaknesses.

The leg strength test showed my right versus left leg was only 2/10ths of a percent apart.

The staff at Florida Hospital Rehab awarded me the “Most Symmetrical Person” they have ever seen there.

What all of this means is that the efforts have yielded extra-ordinary results.

Life is like that.  You reap what you sow.

I’ll try to not forget that simple truth.  Even though I’m easily distracted.  “Oh look, a bird”!

Make today a day to at least consider your physical health and ask yourself, “Am I investing in my health”?   Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂
