What?

Train like you are back in High School sports.

In January you start training for Track.

You compete mid-March for two months.

Take mid-May through mid-July off.

Start summer camp in early August for Fall Football. First game is usually after Labor Day and season ends in mid-November.

In those down times you do not become a couch potato, but you do ease off of the intensity.

All told you go about 5.5 months hard for Track, back off 1.5 months before Football, go 3.5 months hard again for Football, then back off the final 1.5 months of the year before Track resumes in January.

Short vs long term

The two main differences between a short-term and long-term dream:

  • the length of time needed to be successful
  • the level of determination expended to be successful

Insight: Reaching a short-term goal (say running a 10k) is one thing. Staying vibrantly active for a lifetime (long-term goal) is another.

We often get blinded by short-term success. But we should see the blindness coming before we even begin.

Allergic to holding onto things that are no longer useful. These dishes where the first ones we purchased as newlyweds, inspired by our bicycle honeymoon trip. They are neither dishwasher nor microwavable safe.

Allergic to most pollens and mediocrity.

Allergies complicate breathing.

Breathing is an all day, everyday activity. Duh. Right, but think about having breathing challenges and trying to do cardio.

Mediocrity complicates everything.

Time for a pre-work workout before Disney

Two nights ago, after returning from High School Senior banquet. Missing two hours seems inconsequential. Knowing your sleep hours standard ensures your aim is almost always close.

There’s time this morning for a pre-work (Disney Podcasting day) workout before Disney.

Two hours: one hour for the four-mile round-trip walk to gym and one hour at gym.

How cool is that?

Super cool.

A lifetime of getting to a place, at 60 years old, were i call the shots, take the risks, and enjoy the fruits from a life at Disney.

Son, learn as much as you can from what i say (the teaching and explaining behind the why) and especially what i do.
