Six easy, flat miles is considered rest

Grizzly Bear scat (poop) on yesterday’s trial. Guessing it was a big Grizzly. Just a guess.

Six easy, flat miles is considered rest in my world.

Alan from Lake McDonald Lodge front desk and i became friends after he helped me in 2018.

Yesterday he revealed a little known six-mile, flat trail from Avalanche Creek to Lake McDonald Lodge.

It was a glorious break from the stunning glacially-carved high mountain peaks.

The restful walk and the inspiring three-hour conversation refreshed my body and soul.

We passed two people in three hours.

Rest is your friend

In two days, will be staying up at 6,600′ just to the left of the middle horizon, along the Garden Wall.

Rest is your friend.

Spent all day yesterday at the Columbia Falls (Montana) library doing work that matters.

The trails were calling me like a Siren’s song because the weather was perfect.

Same thing today.

The compromise is a six mile flat hike at 3,200′ at 3pm today.

No hiking and flat, low-altitude hikes are decent rests.

Then it’s back to high altitude and high mileage, weather permitting.

Humans are weak

This is your CEO’s responsibility.
A spork with a built-in, fire-me-up inscription. i ate breakfast with this spork today.

Humans are weak.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is we are all weak, so there’s no unfair advantage.

Except for our efforts to overcome our weaknesses.

Compete against your old self, no one else.

Come on baby light my fire. (The Doors). If you watch the entire video, you’ll see Jim Morrison put on a stunning performance as he turns up the temperature.

A healthy body can be lonely if…

A beautiful Labor Day Monday.
The Reynolds saddle is super easy to reach. Photo from saddle looking East.
Behind Mt. Reynolds, the view is all new.
Shane and Jeremy are local hiking buddies. Reynolds (behind us) is 9,125’ tall.
This is where i turned around. We serendipitously met near the trailhead and i asked if i could tag along until i got uncomfortable.

A healthy body can be lonely if…

You don’t have anyone to be active with.

Do you know your heart rate?

Wore watch to bed. Normally don’t.

Do you know your heart rate?

You should and i assume you do.

Are you comfortable with what you know about your heart rate?

Do you know what to do if you’re not?

You should and i assume that you do.

Be amazed and be amazing.
