Determination is always the underdog

My favorite water station at Walt Disney World. Love the quote…”We keep moving forward…”

Determination is always the underdog.

Dear Son, congratulations on competing your first 800-meter run last night.

Slow and steady works when we continue going slow and steady. As soon as we stop, slow and steady no longer works.

Some things in life are ridiculously obvious.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This website is about our physical health. To easily and safely leave this site to read today’s post on jeff’s spiritual health website, click here.

Pain or no pain, that is the question

Two days ago the pain was excruciating and the run was cancelled. Yesterday however, after a fairly painful ten minute walk, a ten mile run ensued. How that was possible remains a mystery.

The 7th and 8th miles where seven-minutes flat. And the preceding six miles each got progressively faster, thanks in large part to zero pain.

This was a bit surprising stunning.

This morning? No pain. How? Why?

Time will tell.

The first five months of retirement have been impressively enlightening.

Life is hard

Didn’t exercise yesterday. Life is hard.

And glorious.

Make the most of the hand you’re dealt.

Pretty simple, right?

But simple doesn’t mean easy.

Be an example, not a warning.

This is where determination becomes an invaluable asset

What do we do when unexpected obstacles pile up one on top of the other?

Quit.

Generally.

This is where determination becomes an invaluable asset.

After a 10-day layoff, this morning will be the third day back at running – almost like starting over.

Who cares. Just keep moving.
