What's Our Obligation?

Slow and steady decline

Glacier National Park glaciers
The Glaciers are dying.

Slow and steady decline.

It happens in nature.

We are part of nature.

And so it happens to us.

Naturally.

Wait.

Have humans inadvertently found ways to accelerate their decline?

Is it possible to dance with nature and extend the life expectancy?

But if we can’t influence longevity, can we have a say in the quality of life – you know, the notion of personal vibrancy?

Staying Motivated

Decline happens both fast and slow

Florida pool pump
Doing home chores yesterday, was reminded by our “new” pool pump motor how quickly unchecked neglect can “suddenly” grab our attention.

Close up. Pump was shiny and new a year or two ago.

In bed later than expected and up much earlier than expected.

It happens.

Work hard to make the most of it.

Will they admit it?

Quote about determination and focus

(photo: The same can be said in reverse…persistent neglect and apathy will mean a consistent decline)

Will a person admit to themselves that their life, and their weight, are slowly and steadily spinning out of control?

Could they wake up one morning and realize that the food choices they’ve been making, the disrupted sleep habits they’ve been subjected to (maybe self-imposed), and the lack of exercise have contributed to creating a serious health issue?

Not to mention a person who doesn’t even look like the person they used to be.

As if a bomb went off and destroyed their temple.

Common Sense Is Elusive

Quite literally it’s death

Mid Life Celebration's key mantra
Live like you mean it!

April Fools day comes and goes.

So do our intentions to do one or both of these:

  1. Get healthy
  2. Stay healthy

But this isn’t a joke or a gag.

Quite literally it’s death.

Slow and steady.

In either direction it’s slow and steady isn’t it?

Decline or progress.

As You Get Older

We were born to run as kids, no?

Jake Bainter long jumping
Kids are meant to be active. It’s how nature prepares them for survival.

Make It Morning was written by Jake’s Mom (Jake was 5th out of 18 boys in the standing long jump)

Knowing how awkward running is to most of us now, imagine if we started out thinking like that as kids.

Then what?
