Bicycling Magic Kingdom and Disney University

Magic Kingdom Christmas tree 2016
Yesterday required a trip to Magic Kingdom and to Windermere Town Hall.

Yesterday was not a run day, but the opportunity to bicycle was appealing because of meetings at Disney University, Magic Kingdom, and Windermere Town Hall, plus refreshingly cooler weather. All told it lasted 4 hours and covered 33k.

Biking at a leisurely pace was almost like being on vacation.

The fact so much work was accomplished made it a perfect combination.

i’d like more days like this.

Being an entrepreneur, they are hard to come by in the early years.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Compromise is the only option sometimes

This is harder than it looks, and i love it.

So the indefinite vacation from running lasted about two months, roughly until school let out around June 1. Since then, i became our son’s running partner. All Summer long we ran with the Windermere Runner’s Club two mornings a week at the high school. The other three days, we ran from home: not much running to speak of, and this is why i got back into running – it was easy running and our son needed the support, guidance, and encouragement.

Note to self, keep moving forward

The run was a mess yesterday.

It happens.

Wasn’t going to let the setback set us back.

So i said, we’re going for a bike ride.

About 90 minutes later, we finished 16 miles.

The last five miles i amped up the pace, pushing the other athlete to keep up.

He responded well.

First business trip as a non-runner

First business trip as a non-runner.

Two things: Still a runner but on an indefinite break and i’ve temporarily replaced running with bicycling.

What to do then when far away from home and far away from a bike?

Walk.

For an hour or more.

Through the city.

From three days a week to six

From three days a week to six.

Seven weeks ago i replaced running with bicycling to give my legs an indefinite break after 17 years.

Been riding a bike the same days (M-W-F) i used to run. i ride to the gym, workout there, and ride home. About 25 miles round trip, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Add to that Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday track workouts with a ninth-grader, which began 10 days ago.
