Ab man is the name I gave him. Five years ago, new to Gold’s Gym, watching his stamina in doing ab work was astonishing.

Last night we were working on our core next to each other. Hey ab man I said. He said back, you’re the ab man.

He said he doesn’t do much core work anymore. He’s more focused on running.

And then it hit. He has passed the baton.

Let us learn that not quitting is it’s own reward

 

Twice in 10 days doesn’t sound extraordinary. Should it? Exercising twice in 10 days almost seems poor.

Setting a personal record in a core exercise and then repeating it 10 days later is extraordinary.

Not quitting rewards us when we least expect it.

Rewards are not the goal.

Not quitting is the goal.

And not quitting is it’s own reward.

The Timing & Location Seemed Like A Sign

No, it wasn’t here in my hometown, Walt Disney World.

The (2006) National Championships – August. Charlotte, North Carolina. Easy, affordable access from Orlando.

Recovered by then? Maybe.

But first, the physical therapist insists on strengthen my core. I said, “Is that somewhere in the middle?” Didn’t even know what ‘core’ was. But quickly found out.

And by the way, my core was pathetic. Maybe worse.

Physical therapist said injuries will continue unless the core is strengthened. Who knew?

Lane 8 At Golds Gym Orlando

Went to Golds Gym yesterday for the second time in ten days. Didn’t really want to. It was cold here in Orlando. Cloudy and gloomy too.  Wasn’t particularly motivated.

So?

So a choice had to be made.  Same choice, day in, day out.

Exactly.  So who cares?  I get it.  Healthy people, especially healthy Baby Boomers rub the rest of the Baby Boomer group (the unhealthy ones) the wrong way.  So what am I supposed to do?  Slow down?
