How Much Is Enough?

Noticers see things others could see but don’t

During yesterday’s 10-miler, there were occasional glances up.

Noticers see things others could see but don’t. Neither good nor bad. It just is.

The question we can ask, “Does it matter?”

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Need Help Not Giving Up?

i was about to break a promise

Orlando Fall foliage
Yesterday while running out of our neighborhood.

Disney University
About 3.5 miles from home to DU.

Disney's Contemporary Resort Convention Center
My old stomping grounds: Disney’s Contemporary Resort Convention Center.

Disney's Contemporary Resort
A crisp, sunny January morning.

Hours after a nine-mile run, and lunch, had the privilege to get a gym workout in too.

With a busy schedule, it almost didn’t happen. And i almost accepted my fate.

Spontaneous creativity happened, because i really didn’t want to break a promise to myself.

Felt amazing to not skip.

Up at 4:35am to make it all work.

She’s 92. She needs heart ablation surgery to repair her heart.

The surgeon, scheduled for two months from now, has an opening in three days.

Her husband is 89 and cannot walk. He relies on 24-hour nursing care.

They live in the same Senior Facility but in two separate wings, based on their health.

Cheryl will be in Allentown for 10 days to assist her Mom before and after surgery.

We are leaving in a few minutes for the hour drive to the airport. Then an hour drive home.

Hoping to begin an hour-long run by 7am so i can take our 8th-grader to school at 8am.

Running is important, in spite of the time pressures, because it mitigates many unhealthy side effects (from inactivity) that crop up over the decades.

This doesn’t happen very often or does it?

Orlando wellness keynote speakers

(photo: Even after fumbling to take the photo, the first mile still clocked in under eight minutes. The warmup mile is never this fast.)

This doesn’t happen very often or does it?

We promised we were going to exercise today. But then the day starts slipping away and it looks impossible. We literally resign ourselves to defeat. Again.

An opportunity, or two, may appear (teasing us) but it’s quickly stolen by something pressing.

And then. And then something happens. We dig in and refuse to be defeated.

And the workout, run, or whatever, is better than we’ve had in months.

A little sore this morning. Cool.

Keep moving forward.
