Slow and steady

Pain-free run today. This 2.5 miles is part of a six-mile total cardio today.

Have slowed the pace and cut mileage by 50%.

Running every other day, three times a week. Bicycling twice a week on the non-run days. Rest on weekends.

See masseuse every 10 days or so for 90 minutes.

Perhaps consistently running pain-free will become a thing again.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy at Massage Envy (ME).

ME has a new meaning based on yesterday’s 90-minute therapy session.

It dawned on me yesterday that the reason for the two to three massages a month is because of ME.

ME…Massage Extravagance.

Meanwhile there is continued daily bombing of Ukraine, a rising civilian death toll and an astronomically insane refugee count (over 3-million and growing).

It is easy to feel guilt and embarrassment during the physical therapy sessions.

But then the ME (massage extravagance) reality that ME (Massage Envy) was inappropriately charging me every month for 24 months.

What began months ago, well before any sign of war, was just a guy trying to use up the two-year’s worth of credits that ME refused to refund – not even refund half.

Been in and out of running (slowly) pain-free. When a pain flareup happens, Michelle does her therapy magic on the hot spot. So far it’s working.

Ain’t as good as it seems

Less than a handful of people know i got injured just before leaving for the 2009 Masters Track and Field World Championships in Finland. Ran through the pain and embarrassment, privately, humbly. Grateful on so many levels. Livin’ the dream…ain’t what it seems.

Ain’t as good as it seems.

What?

Summoning motivation every day for a lifetime.

Battling plaguing and unexpected (and sometimes both) injuries.

What about a running goal?

Ran two miles without pain. Remarkable. This was 6 months ago before going to Glacier for the Summer. There was no running in Glacier.

What about a running goal?

The only running goal, currently, is to be able to run again.

Competing again is not a goal, but it is a dream.

There is something about aging athletes that is inspiring- as if to say, age means nothing.

Danger, dreamers ahead

Where impossible doesn’t exist. It’s up to you to decide.

Dreamers are at risk of getting laughed at, and or disappointed. Dream anyway.

A big part of 2020 dreams revolve around impossible, including running again.
