Staying inspired is a full time job or part time job?

Not all of you are runners. Some of you confess to not exercising regularly. It’s all good. We each find our own way. Live and let live.

How does one live an inspired life?

I submit we do it by paying attention. And using everything around us, including art.

Usain Bolt is an artist. World’s fastest human. Ever.

The run-one-mailbox-a-day with a new twist

Dr Phillips YMCA Aquatic Center
Doesn’t matter what we do, as long as it’s something

We all struggle with staying motivated. All of us. Even those that don’t seem to struggle.

In 1999 I wasn’t struggling to stay motivated, was struggling to get motivated.

And April Fool’s Day I ran from my mailbox to the first neighbor’s mailbox. And did that five days that first week.

The second week, from our mailbox, ran past the first neighbor’s mailbox to the next neighbor’s. Did that five times that week.

Third week three mail boxes a day. Fourth week, four a day for a week. A month before the equivalent to a lap around a track.

Now….the run-one-mailbox-a-day with a new twist.

Each day add one mailbox.

Today is day four and double inguinal hernia repair surgery return to running week.

Are we willing to start over or is quitting our way of life?

Decision making matrix on a flip chart
What’s a non-negotiable and do we have one for our very own?

All our healthy, vibrant dreams flushed down the drain?

Seems so.

Are we willing to start over or is quitting our way of life?

A choice is always available.

Honor your inner voice.

Even if it’s as simple and slow as ultra-slow jogging – to the neighbor’s mailbox.

That’s what I did yesterday morning.

Walked one mile. Ultra-slow jog 100 meters. Walk a half mile. Done.

Three days until Nirvana

First day back at work, a road trip to Washington DC

Just minutes before transformational facilitation begins

Three days until Nirvana. Sure, during this two-week-no-running restriction, Masters Track & Field National Championships were held.

Had planned, for several years, to be there.

Last year the 1,500.

This year the 800.

Next year the 400.

So I miss an important psychological stepping stone.

All stemming from the injury-plagued 2009 track season.

Four more days until nirvana

Four more days until nirvana.

Some long sought after bliss?

Kinda.

Two weeks of no running while recovering from double inguinal hernia repair.

If we don’t exercise because the doctor orders us, that’s one thing.

Not exercising when were capable, but don’t?

WTF!

Wow, that’s funny.
