All told, 48 boxes for the Trucking company – Washington State to Florida.

Moving day…

Becoming full-time Disney Cast Members in 1984 was (and still is) very exciting. We worked hard, like all young folks starting out, establishing ourselves and building our careers, a sense of community, and a home.

One of the inherent dangers with blind ambition is the mismanagement of time, primarily from shifting priorities – or the (false) perception thereof.

The Running?

The running, well, the running stopped. And the move to Central Florida on a very limited income for a young couple starting out was tough. By the way, they had only one car.

So jeff rode a bicycle 30 miles one-way to work – at the Disney’s Contemporary Resort Front Office. A couple years later, they could finally afford a second car.

Jeff got a promotion. A desk job on third shift. And gained 25 pounds.

What About That Girl?

The girl that was engaged (but it fell apart) to be married, Cheryl, well, she moved away – far away – on my recommendation. She graduated and became a Residence Hall Director at Washington State University – the opposite corner of the Country.

I moved to Orlando, Florida to work as a Disney World Cast Member Intern – a Jungle Cruise skipper. We couldn’t have been farther apart without leaving the States.

Princeton Relays

Sophomore year (my final track season), West Chester State College’s track team drove two hours to New Jersey for the Princeton University Indoor relays. In the crowded, sweat-filled team van, slowed by Princeton’s spring break traffic, it happened.

Caught the first glimpse of ultimate Frisbee. The Ivy-League school boys made it look so cool. What a chick-magnet, to be able to do that.

None of the dorm buddies ran track, so upon returning to Ramsey Hall, it was my moral responsibility to teach those sun-worshipping, beer-loving disciples.
