You climb and climb through areas like this where you have no idea how much closer you are getting to the summit.
A creature – thought it was a marmot, what else could it be – approached me and i realized it was probably a Wolverine. This is one of a half dozen shots i eventually took in a “Hail Mary” attempt to capture an image.
It was fast, and on the third sighting as it ran away, one of the Hail Mary pictures struck gold. Almost invisible lower center in front of snow spot, the Wolverine’s distinct markings confirm.

Compare your past month’s habits against what seems reasonable to believe are personally vibrant habits. Satisfied?

Lack of sleep happens sometimes. Be an exception and never let it become habitual.
Mt Oberlin, center, we will see if we can get Djuan to your summit, if he returns.
Mt Reynolds, left, and Mt Oberlin, center. To Oberlin’s left is the face of Clements.
Such a low cloud formation. Driving through it makes you think the day will be sunless, and then you drive above it and your mind is blown.
The Garden Wall – Continental Divide with fresh snow.
Garden Wall as we approach Haystack’s saddle.
Tough time with bright, and low, sun. Portrait mode isn’t helping the focus either.
Curse you portrait mode. Good on you low selfie mode.
Haystack Butte, pictured here is my goal today now that Djuan and Ahkil have left for Whitefish. Oberlin, Reynolds, and Clements on left horizon.
Heading to Haystack’s summit at 11:30 AM.
Summiting was easier than expected.
The summit was unusually long and flat. A delightful surprise.
At least a football field long. No wind. Wonderful.
Glacier National Park.
After 15 years in Disney Resort Operations, i had no clue how sleep deprived i had habitually become. Disney Institute gave me the work schedule break that saved my health.

Djuan, Ahkil and i are attempting Mt Oberlin for a second consecutive day.
Optimistic about our chances.
Realistic to know that safety is our highest priority, even if it leaves us disappointed.
Onward and upward.
The Garden Wall, locally. Officially, the Continental Divide.
A little context to our progress.
We ran into a lone hiker and accepted his offer to take our picture.
Back to selfie-mode.
It’s getting real.
All three crevasse sides are covered with ice. Our summit hopes come to an honest end.
Heading back down to Logan Pass.
Either small bear or large other animal. Perhaps Wolf or Wolves.
Glacier National Park.
Keep it simple. When it’s simple we do it. When we do it it becomes a habit. An excellent concept that’s complicated and hard simply doesn’t work. Simplicity is operational genius.

Heading away from the Pass and hopefully warmer and clearer skies.
Look at that stunning sunshine. Little bit of blue sky too.
Wild Goose Island beach. It was fun and exciting to show Djuan what i never knew about until a few days ago.
Plenty of time to spend here since we cancelled the Mt Oberlin summit. Catch the Hidden Mickey?
Twin sons of different mothers. A sun-bleached, washed up log makes a great pillow.
Nap time.
Ahkil is thoroughly enjoying a change in scenery.
Pirates of the Caribbean?
Rocky mountain “sand” looks like this.
Iconic Wild Goose Island.
Wild Goose Island Beach, September 26, 2020.
i suspect the hard work to get and stay healthy is more joyful and rewarding then the hard work to fight one or more poor-health medical conditions (and medication’s side effects and cost).
