Keeping up with the spotlight

One Man’s Dream is up to one man (or woman), you.

Keeping up with the spotlight.

Balance is believably impossible because no one (except a few exceptions) wants to make the kind of sacrificres necessary to rethink, reprioritize, and recommit to a personal new world order.

Trying to outdo others and one-upmanship. It used to be with money, zipcodes, and material things. Now it’s social media currency – notifications, comments, likes, views, subscribers.

To walk away from social media and the dopamine from the red dot notifications is liberating.

Want a new and different wealth?

Get outside, go to a gym, have a decent sleep schedule, and eat balanced nutrition in logical portions. Stop drinking soda, stay away from sugar-laden processed foods. The list of common-sense wellness strategies and tactics is easily accessible.

You are also free to create your own hybrid habits and rituals. How cool is that?

So little running in our lives

The Resistance has an old-as-time meaning regarding exercise.

So little running in our lives.

You don’t have to be a runner, but you do have to be something.

You’re in this (being active) for a lifetime.

Taking care of your temple is not optional.

Son, as you prepare to leave for college tomorrow, may you already have in your mind what your health habits and rituals will be for your freshman year.

What really matters in your life?

Biked to breakfast yesterday, a Monday.

What really matters in your life will change as you age.

The real challenge, Son, is to get your inaugural set of benchmark values and behaviors (habits and rituals) identified and defined.

Why?

Because you haven’t been pressed to live independently.

College is an adjustment period bridging living at home to getting your own place.

Savor these years and the growth that will grow your wings (and your roots). Your personal growth will yield your inaugural benchmark values and behaviors – through your personalized habits and rituals.

Son, this is the part of your education that will serve you differently and perhaps better than the academics.

Can’t wait for alarm to go off

Is 2019 a special year for you?

Last night, tired (okay, really tired), i was thinking about how much i can’t wait to do a normal gym routine this morning.

The 37 days in Glacier so far this Summer have given me an unnecessary break, and a deep appreciation for being able to spend two hours every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday walking to and from the gym, as well as spending an hour in the gym.

Health is wealth

Health is wealth.

Maximize your dining hall’s excellent food choices.

Maximize the wellness facility across the street from your dorm.

Maximize the open space in the freshman quad (and all over campus).

Do your best to get a normalized sleep schedule that you feel good about.

You can become a morning person later.
