Plant seeds of wellness or don’t

Nelson Mandela quote
Last night i stumbled upon this. Do you realize your thoughts are a choice?

The better we take care of ourselves, the better we feel.

Does anyone disagree with that?

Could it possibly be fake news?

How have you felt the past month, year, five years?

Can you recall a time when you felt better than you do now?

What was different?

Running means everything to me?

Running karma
Yesterday from Twitter.

Lots to do for work.

A third of my team is out.

So i have to manage under less than ideal circumstances.

i could skip the three-hour wellness commitment this morning.

That would certainly help create more time to manage the extra load on me.

Or i could draw a line in the sand and not compromise my health.

It’s tough isn’t it?

My two last resorts for a solution

Jewish wisdom
Yes. Not depending on a miracle, even though a miracle would be nice.

Progress: the muscle knots on my right calf are softening.

This has been accomplished using a hard tennis-like ball – the kind at the pet store that are not easily destroyed by dogs chewing them apart.

In two hours, Rick at Massage Envy and i will spend 90 minutes together.

Massage and acupuncture are the two last resorts for a solution to return to running.

Starting with massage first. This will be the second one.

What does your body say when you ask it if it’s excited?

Windermere 5k
Two days ago we walked in the Windermere 5k as a Family.

Because i took last Friday off from biking, my legs have been resting since last Wednesday morning. Five days rest.

Anxious to saddle up in a few minutes.

With the first and almost imperceptible hint at dawn as i gaze out my office window while typing this, i know today’s workout will not be a burden.

It will be a gift.

Actually, every workout is a gift, but when you are tired and overwhelmed, it’s easy to forget.

Train for ‘how to’ and develop for ‘have to’

Disney Customer Service Speaker
Rare photo of two Disney Legacy name tags together.

What’s the difference between a lifetime of personal vibrancy and a lifetime without vibrancy?

Development.

Parents train (instruct) their kids how to do things, like brushing and flossing their teeth.

But few parents develop their kids to understand why you have to brush and floss for a lifetime.

When was the last time you flossed? You. Yes you. When?

Ok, when was the last time you flossed daily for an entire year?

Now can you hear me?

Training (aka teaching) is not the same as development (coaching).

  • Training is tangible.
  • Development is intangible.

Training only tells me what to do each day.

Development is what convinces me to actually find the commitment to do it every single day.
