Oasis of quiet, physically

Continental Divide cliff
Getting closer. The enormity of our location is lost in this photo.

Every situation, properly perceived, is an opportunity.

You cannot see or think optimally if you are not quiet and still.

Physical couch potato

We’ve reached the saddle between Piegan and Pollock (seen behind us).
Apple Watch in the mountains
View from the saddle. Took us two hours…all up hill.

6-second video: Steve makes it look easy. Once you do it, it is. But there’s a fear factor the first time. This step puts you at the base of The Great Cleft.

The Great Cleft. So much fun. So challenging. i asked if i could go first, to simulate doing it solo (in the future).

At the top of The Great Cleft. Still 200′ vertical away from summit.

Keep moving forward.

Pursuing physical vibrancy is a good and decent life goal.

No one would ever shun it if it was easy.

And it’s because it’s not easy that those who reach it, sustain it, and improve it are invisibly shunned by others.

No one likes to be wrong.

When none of your family, friends, or coworkers have physical vibrancy, you have no obvious conflict with others and therefore no guilt.

No guilt?

What guilt?

The guilt in knowing you haven’t embraced physical vibrancy because it’s hard and requires serious sacrifice.

The guilt in knowing that your friend has figured out how to slay the demons everyone says are un-slayable.

Healthy mindset

NOAA hurricane Idalia tracking screen shot. Note the red circles. At 5am, with 130mph winds, landfall is an hour away.

Healthy living facilitates physical resiliency. Physical resiliency mitigates stress, and accelerates illness and injury recovery.

Hurricane Idalia should have been our second hurricane we weren’t home for, since 1982. Hurricane Ian was the first, less than a year ago.

Emergency eye surgery August 17 (13 days ago) cancelled my August 19 return to Glacier.

So far we have not experienced any adverse weather. Heading out soon for the drive downtown.

Remember, virtues can’t be theory for you. Your patience is confirmed by your actions, not your thoughts, hopes, or words.

Hurricane Idalia set to hit Florida in 14 hours.

Projected to be Category 3.

Retina Specialist Doctor appointment in 16 hours.

i can wait until next week if needed should the office need to close for employee and patient safety.

Orlando should be spared.

However, Central Florida remains a potential tornado hotspot.

Fav quotes

Having a body and not taking care of it is like working in a customer service department and being a jerk to the customers.

dad

If i could wish you one thing this year, it would be that no one could say anything to make you doubt yourself. And no matter where you are in your wellness journey you will find the hunger you need.
