Getting better someday is a lie. Someday never shows up.

Skipping one day makes skipping a second day easier. Skipping two days makes skipping a third day easy. Skipping four, or five days makes skipping forever almost guaranteed. Conversely the opposite is true. Do something one day, it’s easier to do it the next day. Doing it three, four, or five days, makes not skipping almost guaranteed.

We purposefully aimed for a relatively easy 5-mile round trip hike to Avalanche Lake. Our goal is simple. Gradually acclimate our stamina to higher altitude exertion.
