Last time i sat here and paused to count my blessings.

It’s also a long list for most people:

  • Last time i exercised
  • Last time i ate ice cream
  • Last time i touched my toes without knees bent
  • Last time i slept well, for a year straight
  • Last time i walked everywhere
  • Last time i flossed
  • Last time i did 10 pull ups in a row
  • Last time i could comfortably wear my high school clothes
  • Last time i rode a bicycle to the grocery store
  • Last time i started the day without writing five daily blogs

Stuff adds up quick, don’t it?

A pre give-up option

Until death do us part.

This tactic works for me every time, and not just with health.

Before i decide to give up, i remember why i got started.

For physical health, i maintain and improve health to be an example and not a warning. And to honor and defend the temple housing everything keeping a human alive.

i quit sugar one year ago

Halloween, in five days, is the Super Bowl of candy sales and consumption. Photo: the first thing you see entering our local grocery store, yesterday.

i quit sugar one year ago.

The freedom from the pull to eat sugary sweets is liberating, joyful, and revealing.

When i pass on sweets in public, and people ask why, the explanation often reveals the elephant in the room – generally speaking, many Americans are addicted to sugar.

When you miss 10 days

Yesterday, back to running after a two week absence.

When you go 10 days without a gym workout, you’re in one of two places:

  1. The cusp of quitting
  2. Excited to get back in

When you don’t run for two weeks…you should substitute some other cardio activity like walking and/or biking.

There was no gym in Glacier nor was there one close by, but there was plenty of trail – trails are everywhere.
