Wondering what will be the biggest obstacle to lifelong wellness

slide of Jesus and his Holy Words on a church wall

will we have the same challenges across all our core life areas

Wondering what will be the biggest obstacle to lifelong wellness…

Will it be belief that it’s possible?

Will it be belief that it’s worth the effort?

Will it be belief that it could remain fun, interesting, and motivating?

Will we have the same challenge with our faith relationship with whomever or whatever we worship?

We’ve covered mental and physical, now scoot over to emotional (spiritual), click go.

What do we do when one opportunity to exercise is taken away or reduced? Quit? No! Find another opportunity somewhere else. Stopped at Gold’s Gym on the way home from the Orlando airport.

Motivation is like a fire. It’ll go out unless we add fuel to it. Period. We know this. Figure it out.

Time to start ramping up the motivation

Time to start ramping up the motivation. We are not motivated to build a fire when it’s warm outside. Cold motivates us to action.

Nor are we likely to exercise regularly when life is crazy busy. But we must find our motivation to do it anyway. And motivation is like a fire. Unless we add fuel to it, it will go out.

The Spring Masters Track & Field season is 60 days away

rekindle passion

rekindle – not Starbucks and Christmas, Masters Track Spring competition

The Spring Masters Track & Field season is 60 days away. Was reminded of that while jogging this morning.

Time to figure out a doable, accelerated plan for the drop down to 800 meters.  All of you are giving thought to your unending methods to stay motivated. Right?

Good. I’m not alone then.

Can’t imagine staying motivated without a decent goal. Can you?

The one motivational secret you never hear people talking about

motivational tactics

competition is simply a motivational tactic, not an end goal

The one motivational secret you never hear people talking about?

The ebb and flow of motivation. It is part of the journey.

motivation

you should watch your motivation like a hawk, lest you become a victim

Floundering is easy without a serious goal and a deadline. As someone who’s struggled like everyone else and constantly tempted by the same worn out excuses… experience reveals a harsh reality:

Without a clear, concise, and compelling wellness goal, we will flounder, and most likely fail.

Two reasons why Gold’s Gym was packed last night

Some watch the Olympics, some compete, and some do both… these two baby Boomers did both… at the 2012 Masters Track & Field National Championships at Benedictine University this past summer. (left to right: jeff noel, Pat Dunigan)

Baby Boomer athletes

Two reasons why Gold’s Gym was packed last night:

  1. The Olympics are heating up (Usain Bolt is still the World’s fastest human)
  2. The Nike commercials are stirring the human spirit to move

What do you do when you’ve not exercised for four straight days?

finish line

the road to good health has no finish line, contrary to the finish line mentality

What do you do when you’ve not exercised for four straight days? It’s really simple, I think…. You make sure you don’t make it five days in a row.

The exercise answer? Drumroll please……..

excuse whisperer

yes, your excuse is invalid (photo from Internet)

Yesterday’s question has a simple answer. So simple in fact, most people ignore it because they believe their problems challenges “can’t be that simple to solve“.

The exercise answer to the most important first step……… is staying motivated. Fail this and you will fail. Conquer this and you conquer failure.
