Slow and steady wins

The Garden Wall. McDonald Creek. Going-to-the-Sun Road. No vehicular traffic. Heaven.

Slow and steady wins.

In everything, pace yourself.

Why?

Ensure any failure or setback is minor.

Minor is easier to recover from.

Costly mistakes tempt you to quit.

What limits does aging have on our ability to remain active?

Told our 15-year old last night, “It’s astonishing to think i can run 8-10 miles with no issues at (almost) 57 years old.”

To me it’s nothing special.

But if i was a much younger me looking at anyone in their late 50’s doing that it would have seemed unreal.

Not sure why it doesn’t seem unreal now.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Is selling ourselves short a personal choice?

Is it a personal choice to sell ourselves short, or is it society’s fault?

After having accepted that i’m not going to 2015 Worlds this week in France, a revelation this morning…

Began training today for the 2019 World Championships. i’ll be 60. Today’s easy jog reminded me of something. Prior to the injury, i was in the best shape of my adult life.

Telling you that to testify this is true…

How much should we push ourselves?

Run Disney local 5k
Windermere is the site of this week’s 5k.

How much should we push ourselves? In the 10 miles above, only two weren’t negative splits. The last mile. It was a cool down. Mile six was a bit of recovery after two miles of serious hills.

The next blog is about our spirit. How much should we push ourselves there?

Raise our vibrancy in one area, they all rise. Drop in one, they all suffer.

It works like that at Disney. It works like that for you.

Inspiration is an inside job

What are our limits? Yesterday was just an ordinary day.

We all have the possibility to think deep, aspirational thoughts yet we often allow the busy-ness of our life to be a crutch to perpetually put it off.

Do we deserve to treat ourselves like this?

Pfft.

Seriously.

Ran the second longest run ever, 11 miles, yesterday.

The longest run was in 1982, as a Walt Disney World College Program Cast Member – from Disney University to Snow White Campground.
