Having it is no guarantee

Unexpected joy from early bedtime

Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park – just a glance behind me while ascending a mountainside.

Unexpected joy from early bedtime.

Being able to have a routine bedtime means you have a routine awakening.

Having this routine focuses you on a set total nightly hours of sleep.

This is incredibly boring.

This is insanely empowering.

You cannot stop joy when you are refreshed.

Last time for everything

Last time i sat here and paused to count my blessings.

Last time for everything is a music video by Brad Paisley.

It’s also a long list for most people:

  • Last time i exercised
  • Last time i ate ice cream
  • Last time i touched my toes without knees bent
  • Last time i slept well, for a year straight
  • Last time i walked everywhere
  • Last time i flossed
  • Last time i did 10 pull ups in a row
  • Last time i could comfortably wear my high school clothes
  • Last time i rode a bicycle to the grocery store
  • Last time i started the day without writing five daily blogs

Stuff adds up quick, don’t it?

Can’t sleep or won’t sleep?

Hey, there’s Joy from Disney Pixar’s Inside Out movie.

Got physical joy?

Yes?

In part, for sure, because you make sleep a priority.

Does your physical wellness bring you joy? That’s what this post means.

The joy and privilege of movement

working from home
Yesterday i wore the USA jacket during the bicycle ride to the 8am dentist appointment, anticipating it being cold inside. This photo captures the workday environment from 10am-5pm.

The joy and privilege of movement.

Taking that joy and that privilege for granted and waiting for “some day” to become physically vibrant again – like you were when you were a child – is a crime.

A crime.

If inactivity, poor eating habits, and poor sleeping habits were forced upon you, you’d feel cheated and you’d probably get angry.

Truth is, you’re probably forcing poor habits upon yourself, and that’s how you should feel, but you don’t.
