Hate hiking?

foot x-ray
Chronic foot problems challenges. Since 2007.

On yesterday’s Zoom call two smart people publicly proclaimed their dislike for hiking.

Something felt off about their adamant dislike.

The Zoom was no place to unpack this.

But unpacking is what happened after the call.

Context: Hiking is walking. Hiking is walking outdoors.

Here are two pieces when you deconstruct a smart person’s vocal dislike for hiking…

Confessing to a dislike for hiking is confessing to a dislike of:

  1. Walking
  2. Being outside

Like i say about running to people who say they don’t like running, “If you don’t like running, you are doing it wrong.”

Spend a Summer writing in & hiking through the mountains?

Granite Park Chalet availability
Granite Park Chalet availability – sold out in about 15 minutes after reservations went on sale January 8 at 8am Mountain Time. Green equals no vacancy.

Granite Park Chalet availability
Granite Park Chalet availability is like popular restaurant availability – there’s usually room for folks who eat very early or very late.

Spend a Summer writing in & hiking through the mountains?

Which mountains?

Where would you stay?

What kind of writing?

What kind of hiking?

What if you could hike to a high-mountain chalet and write at 6,600 feet (and be surrounded by higher peaks) for several days – with a cellular signal?

What if the place of your dreams was literally impossible to get into?

Thank you Dave and Nancy Weir for being a great catalyst.

Doubtful i would be blogging from Exclamation Point without your passion to get out and hike.

Hiking for a few hours at Chimney Rock was a great substitute for running.
