Annual wellness wish

If i could wish you one thing this year (and every year), it is that no one can say anything to make you doubt yourself. And that no matter where you are in your wellness journey you find the hunger you need.

Wellness Ohana.

Ohana means family.

Wellness ohana.

Be active with your family.

Be active for your family.

How could you not?

History repeats itself

Biking on Sanibel Island
Neither of us had/have active parents.

They say history repeats itself.

That’s up to you to believe or not.

Because your parents lived an inactive life means you will too?

Two-a-days

Fall hiking in Glacier
Hiking through Glacier National Park is easier if you are active before you arrive.

Two-a-days.

What?

In practice, some people do two workouts, or two rehearsals, of two simulations a day.

Some do this to outdistance their competition. Some do it out of necessity. And some do it because they’re simply playing the hand they are dealt.

At 5:15am i’m out the door for a run with my wife. This is too early for our son, a high school senior.

He and i are out the door at 6:15am.

During Summer, we will creatively solve for a single run together.

i have to laugh

family at Disney Springs
January 2, 2019 – yesterday. Mary Poppins Returns was good.

i have to laugh at how little distance we are coving after five months of running Monday through Friday every week.

Nearing 3/4 of a mile in non-stop running, with a cooldown walk that puts the total daily distance at one mile.

Seriously, after five months we aren’t quite to the equivalent of three laps around a high school track.

Why the laughing?

Because no one i know would show up at a track on the first day and run less than four laps.

Our goal is to create lifetime habits. Habits are formed slowly and steadily. How many people do you know who have been intentionally moving for a lifetime?

All of a sudden, our distance seems irrelevant to the slow, steady, and consistent progress we’ve made since August 6, 2019.
