Dr. Unk

southwest USA desert from jet
Somewhere over the southwestern USA. Zooming in on the dots.

This time of year the day heats up quickly after sunrise. We are not far from the day (in April or May) when the nighttime low temp will not drop below 70 until September. This is shirtless running weather.

A couple more creative story-nicknames surfaced. You know, kinda like a book title – the name (title) summarizes the contents.

‘Doctor’ came to mind for a lead character.

Initially, just Dr.

Then a last name.

Unk.

Why?

Next time you see me, ask.

Bike, run, walk

biking at Walt Disney World
Yesterday, heading north on Western Way.
biking at Walt Disney World
Exiting here, Guests perceive they are leaving Walt Disney World. Still a few miles before actually leaving property. Our Property beyond this sign is not “Show-ready” (looks ordinary), so it doesn’t matter if Guests know they are still on Property.

Caught the eye while walking last night.

Bike, run, walk yesterday, a Saturday.

Biked 31 miles through Walt Disney World in the morning.

Jogged 4 mailboxes (400 meters) in the late afternoon. Walked the 400 meters back home.

Biked 20 minutes at dusk with the Family.

Covid-19 continues to create opportunities for people and families to be more active than they’ve ever been.

Ever.

Grinnell Glacier hike 2019.

Rain check please.

Yesterday’s 30-mile Disney bicycle ride was cancelled.

We (Orlando) needed an all-day rain.

More rain this afternoon.

The early bird gets the worm.

Sunrise is 6:50 AM.

Hoping to be in the saddle by then.

Weakness is slow

St Mary Valley in Glacier National Park
St Mary Valley in Glacier National Park. Photo: an almost unknown trail well past the backside of Mt Reynolds.

Weakness is slow.

Slow to creep in.

Slow to let you know it has arrived.

From decades of experience, i know it easily becomes an issue in only 10 consecutive days of missed workouts.

Now imagine years, decades, a lifetime.

You’re smarter than that.

Congrats, and enjoy your creative Covid-19, gym-less strength workouts.

30-mile bike ride

When you change what you see, what you see changes.

A 30-mile bike ride yesterday helped erase the guilt discomfort from missing a normal workout day.

Each day we exercise makes it easier to exercise the next day.
