Slow and steady DOES win the race, here’s why

The main point: Great things take time. We’ve got a fresh slate labeled 2013. We can live in the past, or kick it’s butt.

No one wakes up an Olympic champion.

And the game-changing iPhone 5 did not happen overnight either.

Let’s not forget the long way is the shortcut. And before the iPhone came to be, Apple first launched the iPod… 12 years ago. It was the iPod that was laying the foundation for the iPhone (5).

Got it?

Our wellness. Where will we start. Where will we end up?

Moving slowly is not a sin, standing still is.

Blogging as the sun comes up over the palm trees

find the best time and place to exercise

Post number two of five… dawn is getting brighter. Would love to run before the sun comes up. Not gonna happen today. Slept in until 6am. Luckily, the east side of the road provides shade until 9am.

Insight: Finding the right conditions makes exercise more enjoyable. In the wrong conditions, miserable.

Is The Mail Here Yet?

Kids mostly spend too much time indoors. Our household is not immune.Searching for a place to begin, I looked for several ingredients:

  • Easy to be successful
  • No travel involved
  • No equipment necessary
  • Didn’t take too much time

The one-mailbox-a-day wellness program that worked so well for jeff noel 12 years ago, as a 40 year old, might also work for a 10-year old.

Anything in the above recipe that repulses you? Put up or shut up – in the nicest way possible.

jeff noel & Son

How’s your March Wellness Challenge going?

jeff noel & son begin week 4 of the one mailbox a day for a week challenge. We’re four weeks into it so each day we slow jog to the 4th mailbox from ours.

Orlando mailboxes are 100 meters apart, so we are slow jogging the equivalent of a single lap around the track. After one month, that’s all we have to show. PERFECT!

Put Up Or Shut Up Month

March, at Mid Life Celebration, LLC is put up or shut up month. Sure enough, many Lane 8 readers don’t read the other 4 jeff noel blogs I write every day.

Pity. It would provide hopeful readers with a tough wellness challenge:

  • Invest 2-3 minutes every day
  • Create a balanced attack
  • Alleviate incongruence

But alas, 2-3 minutes every day is too much to ask. So put up or shut up. You still in?

Wellness Challenge Continues

Just another day at ‘the office’…

The most basic of questions, okay? Have you completely given up on wellness, well-being and your personal responsibility to managing your health?

This week, I began the one-mailbox-a-day-for-a week wellness challenge with our son (10).

Part of what I do, as an Orlando-based Professional Speaker delivering keynote speeches on life-work balance, is practice what I preach.

How can any of us do anything less?

The 2012 Olympic Team USA Men’s & Women’s Track & Field coaches were named yesterday by the USATF.

While this well-being blog is not a runners blog, there are quite a few running references, because that’s how I exercise.

At the top of the Iowa hill during Monday’s run, I stopped to catch the sunset (on my sunglasses) and to take a peek at the stone quarry (background).

And then, on purpose, I caught the moon rise & the sunset within inches of each other.

Live your life. Have fun. Deal with your pain. Get help when you need too. Go for a run, a walk, a swim, whatever, just go. No excuses. Okay? Run (really slowly) one mailbox a day for week. You can do that, right?
