Could Forks Over Knives Save Our Lives?

There's a time and a place, but not everyday. Moderation is good.

Roger Ebert says Forks Over Knives “May save our lives”.

Jamie Oliver is on a Food Revolution in America.

I wonder what it will take…

…to stop the madness.

The Top Reason Why Most People Quit Exercising

Experimenting with bread mold conditions is no different than experimenting with boredom conditions.

The main reason we quit exercising is simple and obvious. Boredom.

The antidote? Find a million ways not to. Yesterday morning’s run had a predictable route, but I didn’t feel like going the whole way and turning around. So I was going to take a shorter route to get the job done quicker – minimize the boredom…

…but decided to explore a route I’d never taken. Had the longest run in five years, and wasn’t bored for a moment.

Are You And I Selfish?

Runtime? Sure feels like it.

I’m under no obligation to offer you anything. And yes, you could call me selfish. But here’s the thing, with no obligation to give, guess what the giving becomes. It becomes joyous – and in a weird way, not selfish, but selfless.

The point? Running is going well, better than it has in years. The ripple effect in having a balanced approach to wellness is how physical health (running) also impacts my attitude, and my work – the writing.

What’s My Obligation To You?

Maybe I'm a pig? And if so, which one?

What’s my obligation to you? I often ask this question. Since there is no charge to you, perhaps there’s none.

Then why write five different blogs, daily? Because I’m selfish.

PS. How’s your health and wellness commitment going?

Did You Arrive Here Via Mid Life Celebration?

What's your big dream? Mine is to change the way we pursue work life balance.

We’ve been conditioned to say it in this order: mind, body, spirit. And that’s the order I write. So before writing Lane 8′s daily post, I write Midlife Celebration’s post, which focuses on our attitude mind. This means Lane 8 revolves around our body – diet, exercise, rest.

Then after writing Lane 8′s post, I write at jeffnoel.org - our emotional core – our spirit. In fact, if you click on Blog below, you’ll go directly to the emotional/spirit blog.

Can You Get Better By Doing Less?

Some are very shy about their feet.

To a runner, having healthy feet is a blessing, especially if the runner hasn’t had great-feeling feet in years and years. The down side is that feeling great is a huge temptation to overdo it. So yesterday, I took the day off.

When Was The Last Time You Felt Really Healthy?

The Florida State tree - cabbage palm. They look very healthy.

The day I quit working out will be the healthiest I’ll ever be for the rest of my life. There is no physical way to get or stay stronger, nor to have better (or maintained) cardiovascular abilities, without exercise. Read my lips. None.

My feet are feeling the best they have in a decade. This potentially means something fun and exciting. Hope I don’t blow it. When was the last time you felt healthier than you have in years?

Completely, Utterly Coincidental

Picking the obvious one should be easy.

A story huh? Well, my five blogs get written after I wake up but before heading out for a run and work. So there’s not much time – it’s completely, utterly, in the moment, with few exceptions.

After taking a quick glance at what I wrote yesterday, I wondered what the story was three years ago today. Talk about coincidence – it’s a decent story if I do say so myself.

Yeah, You Heard Me Correctly Yesterday

I check my weight everyday (except when I travel, because I have no scale).

So yeah my feet – practically a runner’s best friend – are feeling better than they have in a decade. What does this mean? It means patience is a virtue.

Please tell me (more importantly, tell yourself) you are still moving forward with your wellness and health commitment. Expect a story to emerge as the days go by. And if you want to share yours, have at it (no expectations, just an honest invite).

Bonus Run Or Addiction?

Not Truckers Country, Runners Country.

The way things worked out yesterday – impacting today – means I get to run this morning, making it three days of running in the past seven instead of two.

Bonus or addiction?

PS. My feet haven’t felt this good in 10 years. If you’re a regular from the beginning (’09), this means something’s up. If you’re newer, it still means the same thing, but you might not have any idea…
