Jeffrey, thank you for being part of this wellness community. Appreciate your investment to share your comments.

As a writer, I know the effort and commitment you have made.

And as a Master's athlete, your efforts to be in the best shape of your life are also appreciated.

Not familiar with Clyde Hart, and would enjoy whatever you can email.

Enjoying the NTC (National Training Center) Track Meets is still a hope this season, but the reality is the foot pain is not gone.

In the big picture, I'm just so darn thankful to be able to head out the door for a 5-mile run, which reminds me...

Dear Jeff,

Having run 10k 3-4 times per week for more than two years straight, I sincerely sympathize with the foot pain you are experiencing. Whenever I suffer minor injuries or I'm not feeling particularly well, I try to use it as an opportunity to add variety to my training by finding ways to work out around the injuries or intelligently adjust the duration and intesity of specific excercises. Either way, I always try to do whatever I have to do to ensure that I get from where I'm at, back to full health and good training form as quickly as possible. Whenever I get sick or injured, I try to remind myself that it's more helpful to play it smart rather than play it tough.

When my typical passion to train is absent I always ask myelf three questions.

1) Are you sick?
2) Are you injured?
3) Are you overtrained?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then I make adjustments according to my circumstances.

If the answer to all three is no, then don't think about it. Just Do It! Workout hard and fast and do it with passion. Once you are into the workout you will forget all about those silly excuses. And the worst excuse? "I'm too tired." The general idea of training is to push the body until it is exausted or "tired." If you're already tired, then it will be a short trip. Just Do It! And make sure that in everything that you do, you do it to the best of your abilities.

Side Note:
Five months ago, I began using Clyde Hart's 400m workout. It took some getting use to and I had to scale the event times but WOW! No foot pain, no injuries, just one PB after another. At the tender age of 47, I'm in the best shape of my life. I know your a 400m runner and you've probably already seen Clyde's program. If you don't have a copy, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Hope you can find something useful in my comments.

I'll see you at the NTC Classic:-)
